Our School Safety Officers™ wear the specialized service patch on their uniforms, opposed to our regular company security branding. We believe that the word “safety” better describes our school role, rather than “Security”. Our Officer`s goal is to de-escalate potential incidents before they take hold and provide a safe environment for all.
Uniform and Appearance Standards
It is acknowledged that the mere presence of a crisp, professional-looking uniformed School Safety Officer™ can deter crime or direct criminals away from a property. Our training and inspection protocols consistently evaluate the quality, fit and condition of each officer’s uniform. Our Officer`s will be consistently evaluated in their ability to meet our appearance standards under the scrutiny of the Site Supervisors and Operations Manager. Our SSO uniform consists of a polo or collared shirt displaying badges, black pants, black utility belt, baseball cap, jacket for inclement weather, safety vest, and black boots. In addition, each officer will be issued handcuffs, a baton, and pepper spray. Armed officers will be issued a Glock 17 side arm with three magazines and ammunition.

Training
All officers will have basic guard training that they received to obtain their security guard license. In addition, the officers will receive the specialized training listed below.

Following successful completion of our pre- employment screening and the local licensing process, new probationary officers may undertake Pre-Assignment Training which can be configured to meet the needs of this contract.
The Shergroup curriculum features practical exercises regarding observation, Interpersonal communication, customer service, and report writing skills. Except for the first two modules, the curriculum can be delivered in any sequence that is most effective for your operations.
School Safety K9 Teams
Shergroup Security is proud to provide School Safety K9 teams. These specially trained body-worn firearms detection dogs and their handlers work together to detect and deter potential threats, ensuring a proactive approach to security. Each School Safety K9 is tested for environmental and sociability, along with advanced training to non-obtrusively screen personnel entering an educational facility. Our K9s wear “Green Go” and “Red Stop” patches on their harnesses to indicate when a K9 is working and when they are wanting love and attention.

Our accompanying Children’s Education Program is targeted by grade level to empower children of all ages how to identify a risk of violence, associated with various behaviors.
