On October 30, 2024, a Shergroup officer was on duty at the high school, stationed at the front courtyard. Around 8:25 a.m., the officer observed a three-on-one altercation spilling from the hallway through an exit door and into his immediate vicinity. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the officer Hill quickly intervened, using de-escalation and open-hand techniques to create a safe distance between the involved students. When further action was needed to protect the student, he employed a lifting technique to safely move the student away from the group, preventing further harm.
After leading the student to safety, the officer ensured the student received immediate attention and care by escorting them to the security hub, where school staff was ready to assist. The student was then taken to the nurse’s office to await parental pick-up, providing a safe space for recovery after the incident.
